Focused Training. Fast Progress.
REAL GROWTH STARTS FROM DAY ONE
From their very first class, dancers on the Competitive Teams at Studio East Dance Company begin to develop confidence and capability through structured training that builds week by week. The Primary Team, designed for dancers ages 5 to 7, introduces foundational styles such as ballet, tap, jazz, and tumble. These classes focus on rhythm, coordination, classroom etiquette, and musicality, all within a nurturing and age-appropriate format. This early structure sets the tone for future success.
As dancers move into the Secondary Team, the program becomes more layered. With the addition of dance conditioning and fundamentals, dancers gain greater strength, stamina, and technical control. Optional styles like hip-hop, lyrical, and contemporary give dancers a creative outlet to explore expression while still developing core technique. Weekly rehearsals are designed to challenge students at just the right pace, helping them feel consistent progress without unnecessary pressure.
Consistency That Builds Character
LASTING VALUE FOR DEDICATED DANCERS
As dancers progress into the Pre-Company and Company Teams, the training becomes more advanced and intentional. These levels continue to build on ballet, tap, jazz, and conditioning, but also introduce more specialized classes like PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique), Pre-Pointe and Pointe, Improvisation, Choreography, and Convention Combinations. These classes are designed to strengthen technique, refine artistry, and give dancers the tools needed to adapt quickly in professional or pre-professional environments.
Dancers at this level train several days a week and commit to multiple performances and competitions throughout the year. This structure helps develop strong time management skills, personal responsibility, and dedication to long-term goals. Dancers learn how to take corrections, apply feedback, and push themselves with purpose. These habits are valuable both in and outside the studio and often translate into success in academics, leadership, and future career pursuits.
Many of our older dancers go on to pursue college dance programs, participate in auditions, or take on teaching roles within the studio. Some have been selected for guest choreography opportunities, where they rehearse with professionals on solos, duets, or trios during the summer and fall. These experiences help dancers build resumes and real-world performance experience, while also deepening their passion for the art form.
More than just a training program, our Competitive Teams provide a strong foundation that supports personal growth, lasting friendships, and a lifelong love of dance. Whether your dancer is just starting out or preparing for the next stage of their journey, Studio East Dance Company offers a clear path forward at every level.
